Weather in Argentina
Temperatures and climatic conditions in Argentina range from extreme, muggy heat and heavy rains in the subtropical Chaco, north of Argentina, to the pleasant climes in central Pampas, to the sub-Antarctic chill in the Patagonian Sea, south of Argentina. Central Argentina can be pleasant most of the time, though it generally becomes humid and hot in the summers (December to February) and quite cool during the winters. Buenos Aires and the Pampas, in central Argentina, have this kind of climate.
The temperatures in the deserts of Cuyo swing between extremes – the summers are dry and hot, while the winters are cold. Spring and fall exhibit a pendulous shifting of temperatures: several days of hot weather give way to some cold days, followed by hot temperatures.
The weather in the Andes is quite cool and pleasant in the summers, though winters can become extremely cold. Erratic rainfall and flash floods are common during the summer season in the upper Andes; while, soaring temperatures and snow are characteristic of the climate at higher elevations. Hot, dry winds are common in the Zonda.
Patagonia summers are cool, while the winters are cold. Temperatures can climb up and down in one single day; so it’s advisable to pack in a variety of garments and you may consider dressing in layers to cope with the shifting temperatures.
You will need warm clothes in the south in the mountains and during winter months in central Argentina. Lightweight clothing will suffice for north Argentina. Do carry raincoats so that your mobility is not affected due to inclement weather.
